The institute attaches special importance to undertake research in major blinding eye diseases in this country. To accomplish this work Dr. Ahamadur Rahman Research Centre has been established which has a panel of professional researchers headed by Prof. A.H.G. Quddus (Former Professor, Dept. of Sociology, Chittagong University), as an Honorary Director of the centre. Prof. Rabiul Husain is the chief adviser of the centre. Several other ophthalmologists and mid level eye care personnel are also involved.
The research centre brings out its annual journal ‘HORIZON’ (ISSN 2070 190X) in which the research activities of the institute are published. The centre also helps ophthalmologists in publishing their articles in other national and international journals. The institute is also fortunate to have strong links with a number of reputed institutions globally and a number of studies have been undertaken in collaboration with these institutions.
